Redwide and Redwall are both external, long range passive infrared detectors. Redwide is designed to provide reliable intruder detection at distances of up to 50 metres over a 30 degree span. Redwall is designed to provide reliable coverage at distances up to 100 metres.

Detection is achieved by monitoring changes of far infrared levels in the sensor's field of view. Redwide and Redwall are single ended devices. Both detectors are totally passive and do not emit any transmission to achieve detection. Redwide's tri-channel processors use three dual-element sensors and digital logic processing. Redwall's electronic processor uses dual threshold techniques and thermal compensation. This enables reliable multi-zone protection over a wide temperature range.

Redwide and Redwall feature a truly unique optical system which combines long focal length reflecting and short focal length refracting systems. The computer designed reflecting surfaces are coated in pure gold to maximise their performance. The Redwide 30 degree detection pattern matches the optical coverage of a standard CCTV camera.

The detectors can be wall or pillar mounted. The detectors' sensing elements are housed within a fully screened metal enclosure which, being located in the sensor's cast aluminium head, are thereby doubly protected against radio interference. Comprehensive decoupling of the electronics also adds to the sensor's ability to reject sources of electro-magnetic and electro-static interference.
