For many sites, walls and fences are the main or only defence against unwanted visitors. These barriers however, are only physical obstacles to the determined intruder and used alone will not provide an alert when compromised.

Halon Bank Outdoor Detection Systems provide dramatically increased security based on infra-red, microwave, vibration and pressure sensitive technologies. All of these systems monitor themselves against tampering or other damage, so the choice of equipment depends upon the requirements and characteristics of each site.

For example Halon Bank infra red and microwave detectors are designed to blend into the surroundings, whereas Guardwire combines with a wire fence to act as an obvious deterrent. For covert applications, underground pressure sensitive systems provide protection which is undetectable and highly flexible.

All Halon Bank systems can be used to automatically summon on-site security officers or alert a Halon Bank Alarm Receiving Centre. When used as part of an integrated security system, the detectors can also trigger closed circuit television cameras or security lighting. These measures enable the intruder to be more easily identified so that an appropriate action can be taken.

Perimeter protection is most suited to high risk, sensitive and 'open' sites such as refineries, airports, warehouses, research centres and prisons.
