Class F - old risk, new classification

Class F - The Risk
  • According to the latest World statistics, cooking appliance fires make up 25% of all fires in the workplace. A large proportion of which are related to cooking oil
  • The potential hazard of cooking oil is now deemed to be so great that under BS 7937 a whole new fire classification was introduced in May 2000 - Class F

Class F - The Solution

  • Recognising these dangers early, in 1998 Halon Bank Fire developed the World's first Wet Chemical extinguisher, the Fry Fighter

Traditional extinguishers cannot protect against the risks posed by vats containing more than 3 litres of cooking oil. Only extinguishers with a class F logo can address this risk in a safe and effective way.

  • Meets the BS 7937:2000 standard and displays kitemark
  • First approved wet chemical extinguisher in the World
  • Wet chemical solution cools and emulsifies burning cooking oil, leaving a hard, safe crust
  • Meets highest possible fire rating: 75F
  • Stainless-steel body and official canary yellow colour coding
  • Lance enables user to tackle fire from a safe distance
  • Low-rate discharge prevents dangerous splashing
  • 13A rating for improved all-round workplace safety

"We chose Halon Bank's Fry Fighter extinguisher as we wanted every kitchen using a deep fat fryer to have the best fire appliance on the market' Contracts Manager - Whitbread Restaurants
