The whole industry is
being forced to re-evaluate its security measures.
Traditional security
has centred around security officers, alarms and CCTV. But experience
has highlighted the limitations of these. Employing security officers is
expensive. Alarms cannot be used on forecourts, because genuine
prospects, innocently inspecting a car, would trigger them. Also, CCTV
must be monitored in real time if it is to be of any use.
-
We don’t want to
scare off our prospects.
-
We don’t want the
police called out by false alarms.
-
We don’t want
ourselves or our personnel dragged out of bed in the middle of the
night without good cause.
-
We don’t want to
sit through hours of video footage, after the crime has taken place.
-
There is no point in
CCTV if no one is watching.
-
There is no point in
them watching if they do not act.
-
To pay for someone
to watch your CCTV full-time would incur a huge overhead.
What's the solution?
